Enabling Cloudflare protection for your Domain

Updated this week

Create a Cloudflare account & add your domain

  1. Go to Cloudflare’s website and sign up for a free account (if you don’t have one yet).

  2. After logging in, click “Add a Site” (or similar) and enter your domain (example.com).

  3. Choose a plan — you can start with the Free plan and upgrade later if needed.

  4. Cloudflare will scan your existing DNS records automatically. Review that scan and proceed.

Update the domain nameservers at your registrar

  1. Cloudflare will provide you with two nameservers (e.g., alice.ns.cloudflare.com, bob.ns.cloudflare.com).

2. Log in to the account where you registered your domain (your registrar).

3. Find the section for DNS / Nameservers and replace the current nameservers with the two given by Cloudflare.

4. Return to Cloudflare and click Continue once you’ve made the change.

5. Wait for propagation — it can take up to 24 hours for the nameserver update to fully propagate.
