Enabling Cloudflare protection

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Introduction:

Cloudflare provides DDoS mitigation and Internet security services between website visitors and the server on which content is being hosted. Currently, Cloudflare is one of the most popular free CDN service providers.

1. Registration

To use the services, registration must be completed on the Cloudflare system. This can be done via the following link:

Enter your domain that you want to protect into "Enter an existing domain or register a new one" field, check other settings, and press Continue.

Select a Suitable Cloudflare service plan (the Free Plan is also suitable). Proceed with the current DNS record scan by pressing the "Continue" button:

2. Domain nameservers configuration

When you choose a plan, you will get instructions for the nameservers configuration:

It's an example of our nameservers. In your case, the nameservers can be different.

Now, you should set the Cloudflare nameserver for your domain name. This change must be made through your domain registry (the company with which you registered your domain). Usage of both Nameservers is mandatory. The change will be fully saved after the TTL of the DNS servers passes.

After the change, you will have to wait until it is propagated. The Cloudflare system will automatically refresh the information when changes occur.

After propagation, you will see that Cloudflare for your domain is enabled:

Now, you can set DNS records (choose the DNS section in Cloudflare):

Cloudflare may have resolved your previous DNS records. In this case, you can adjust them or remove unnecessary ones.

It's a guide on how to manage DNS records in Cloudflare:
