To change rDNS/PTR/hostname, please perform these steps:
Login to the Clients Area;
At the top menu select “My Services > VPS” tab;
Find a desirable VPS and press the “Manage” button.
For main IP address:
Note: Make sure that your domain/subdomain is already pointed to your VPS main IP address. If not, you will get this message:
To point your domain/subdomain to your VPS IP address, you need to update your domain's/subdomain's A record. You can use this guide.
Note: If you try to use an already used domain/subdomain, you will not be able to do that and you will get this message:
The domain/subdomain that is already used cannot be used again. So to use it, you need to change the server's hostname that uses that domain/subdomain to another one.
For additional IP addresses:
Under “IP Addresses” near IP which hostname or PTR you want to change, press “[Set PTR]”;
Enter desired domain/subdomain;
Press “Change”.
Attention #1: Domain/subdomain must be pointed (redirected) to the server’s IP address. It is done with A record. This can be done either at your domain registrar or with ours DNS manager. You should wait up to 12-24 hours after the domain is pointed before changing hostname/rDNS/PTR.
Attention #2: After hostname/rDNS/PTR is changed to your domain/subdomain, it will not be possible to change it back to the default hostname/rDNS/PTR.
Attention #3: If the domain/subdomain is already pointed to your VPS IP address and the propagation time has passed and you still cannot change the hostname, please make sure that you do not use Cloudflare. Our system doesn't fully see A record if it is under Cloudflare. So to change the hostname, for some time, please disable Cloudflare and try to change the hostname again.
Attention #4: PTR record is set up for the IP address when you change the VPS hostname and assign the domain/subdomain to your VPS IP address. Unfortunately, a PTR record cannot be set up for a different domain/subdomain.
